Haringey Remembrance Service

Y6 went to the cenotaph and joined Councillor Sheila Peacock and a number of other schools in Haringey to remember the day when peace reigned, and war ended. Year 6 received an unprecedented number of comments on their uniform and how smart they looked. Y6 were respectful and well behaved setting an excellent example and we were extremely proud of them. Well done Y6 for representing Harris so well.

Prior to the service, Y6 have been studying the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields', by Dr John McCrae and 'The Hero' a poem by a welsh poet called Hedd Wynn. Zeinab Ahmed in 6H wrote her own poem.

I look there and here, they're all just dead?

Did we have to resort to bloodshed,

The day we were waiting for,

The end of this horrific war,

One by one I saw them fall,

For them I will stand up tall.

Poppies will be red,

To represent the bloodshed,

What came our way was death,

Running for freedom I lose my breath,

I shall try, try,try and try,

I will hold my pride up high.

Thank you to everyone who

purchased poppies and donated to this cause.
