Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Evenings this week. The feedback has been very positive. Parents of our Reception children were united in their praise for the enormous strides forward their children have made, and parents loved our new Assertive Mentoring assessment system.

Assertive Mentoring puts every child at the heart of his/her own educational journey. Each child has a regular discussion with the teacher about his/her development and they keep a record of their attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics across the year. They regularly update this with weekly assessment results in grammar, spelling, key words and times tables. Assessments are highlighted in red, yellow or green according to attainment, and teaching is directed at gaps. Children discuss areas for improvement with the teacher, and work smartly to ensure they fill the gaps and move forward at an accelerated rate; no time wasted on what they already know, but new learning continuously building on old.
