Y3 trip to National Gallery
Year 3 had a fabulous time visiting the National Gallery; one of the world’s greatest attractions right here in our own city! They started
the day with an informative workshop from a very knowledgeable curator, who discussed aspects such as ‘light and colour’ and what
the story behind each painting might be in various masterpieces. The children wandered freely through the collection discussing
elements like seasoned art critics and dazzling their teachers with their insight and appreciation of each picture. They had the
privilege of being close up some world-famous works of art such as ‘The Haywain’ by the British artist ‘John Constable’. Many of the
class were able to create stories from the paintings they saw, and they will be developing these in their English lessons next week.
