4 October 2018Our Heritage WOW Day!Today was our ‘Heritage’ WOW day when children attended school in their traditional heritage costume and engaged in an array of fantastic learning experiences from Victorian classrooms to traditional cucumber sandwiches in afternoon tea. Please read on to find out what else our classes enjoyed.
20 July 2018Hairspray raises the Roof!We are still tingling from the excitement and hair-raising fun of our magnificent Year 6 production of Hairspray. The children were delighted to see Lord Harris, who, despite a meeting in the House of Lords, raced through London to make it for the second half! He said it was the best primary performance he had ever seen! He also said that seeing children achieve so well, academically and through performances like this, motivated him to keep on making a difference by taking on more Harris Academies. He was so pleased with them that as a reward he pledged £10,000 to the academy for trips. So, Y6’s trip to Chessington on Thursday was paid for, (parents will receive a refund through ParentPay) and Lord Harris’s donation meant that they all got to keep their amazing sparkly gold and silver shoes! Thank you Lord Harris. We are so glad we make you proud!
13 July 2018Amazing End of Year Results!We are absolutely delighted to tell you that our results this year are outstanding! Thank you to the staff and parents who have worked relentlessly with us, constantly raising the expectation, building aspiration and challenging children to always do better. We are incredibly proud of both the attainments and the progress.
29 June 2018Hands-on Science Learning for Y3RYear 3 Rsoen had the excitement of a trip to Bruce Castle for an enticing tree trail. The children had to become true detectives and gather as much evidence as possible to support their explanations. They recognised and identified many types of trees such as silver birch, copper beech, sycamore and of course the great oak that stands majestically in the middle of the park guarding the castle. This magnificent creation is 500 years old, which is older than Bruce Grove Castle itself! After analysisng many types of seeds, the children used their knowledge from their weekly science lessons to discuss the different methods of seed dispersal. They then had the opportunity to use binoculars to spot birds in the trees, insects on the brancehs, mushrooms on the ground and even lichen and moss! What a fantastic day for the little scientists! 22 June 2018World Cup FundraiserCome on England! As you are all aware, the World Cup is in full swing. This week the children were given the chance to celebrate the games after school. They were fully immersed with their football shirts on and their faces painted in the games flag. We can only hope that England's winning streak continues and we intend to keep the children updated during assemblies how we are doing. Thank you to the children, who were amazing all week and thank you to our lovely parents who continue to allow their children to attend these events.
15 June 2018It's all about HAIRSPRAY!You can now buy tickets for our annual singing and dancing spectacle Hairspray - from the school office. There will be two performances (Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th July) so please check which showing you want to see. Tickets will sell out quickly, so get ahead of the game and buy yours ASAP! (Adulst:£2, children £1).
8 June 2018HPACP Choir MembersWith half term just over, the choir started off their first day back with an excellent opportunity to attend the Royal Albert Hall. 25 children from HPACP gospel choir joined other children from schools around Haringey to sing the “Haringey goes wild” songs. Children as young as 5 years old, sang with joy and pride, on Monday evening. Arriving at 3:30pm, we rehearsed with a live orchestra, until 6 pm. We then went to the park and enjoyed a light dinner before heading back to our allocated position to wow the audience. We sang the songs together and watched children play the guitar, an excellent drum session, jazz ensemble and the Haringey Vox choir. We spotted children that have moved on, but from our great opportunities here at HPACP, have carried on with learning an instrument. We had an amazing turn out and support from the parents of the choir children. Parents who came had a spectacular time and were extremely proud of their children. Returning at 11:00pm, some children were tired and some extremely excited. A well-deserved weekend rest. Well done children and parents! A fabulous evening! Ms Sweeney
25 May 2018Year 6 Rehearsals until 5pmIn case you have not heard, o r been blown over by the sheer excitement happening in year 6 right now, be prepared...our Y6 production this year is none other than the fantastically challenging and hear-warming 'Hairspray', which will be shown on the 17tha nd 18th July. A musical with a powerful theme of equality, standing against what is wrong and standing up for what is right. The children have shown such amazing energy already as they have auditioned for parts and taken a brave step in singing solo to secure parts. Well done to everyone. It is already proving to be one event you will not want to miss. However, to ensure the production reaches our usual standard of 'exceedingly, abundantly, above' all we can think or imagine then we need to practise hard. Our Year 6 children are used to hard work -they have done it all year, so please can you ensure that they attend all rehearsals which will take throughout the day plus three days a week until 5 pm every Tuesday. 18 May 2018A Royal LunchHere at HPACP we are proud of the opportunities we ahve here in our nation and we hold British values in high regard. It was a privilege therefore to learn more about the occasion during assembly and mark the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a picnic celebration on Thursday lunchtime, thanks to our lunch provider Chartwells. Enjoy the auspicious event on Saturday on your TV.
11 May 2018SATS expectationsNext week is the KS2 SATs and all children from Y6 need to arrive sharp at 8am every day. Children will have breakfast together in school and enjoy a gentle stress-free start to the day, ready for the written exams afterwards. We will support and prep the children to ensure they are not feeling anxious, please support us in this by ensuring they arrive on time. We look forward to them doing well and showing just how much they have learned throughout the year. Boosters this week will be on Monday and Tuesday only, 3:30-5:30pm. Mrs Sinem
4 May 2018Record-Breaking AttendanceThis week we met with our Educational Welfare Officer in Haringey and we were delighted to hear that our attendance figure, which is currently 97.2%, is the highest it has ever been in the history of the academy. Moreover, at 97.2% we are not only above the national average, but we are also the highest attending school in Haringey history! Mr Welton, senior Educational Welfare Officer, informed us that the overall annual attendance record in a Haringey school is 97.1% and we are currently beating that! Huge thanks to Mr Welton and Mr Dawson, who, as many of you know, work incredibly hard to ensure children do not miss a day. We do this because we know you are better with us, than without us! Your children achieve higher with us than without us, and your children make more progress with us than without us! So please check all the school term dates and ensure that we not only maintain our historical attendance lead in Haringey but also improve it further. Please also remember that we cannot and will not authorise absence in term time. Anyone who takes unauthorised absence is reported to Haringey who, in turn, issue fines starting at £60 but increasing to £120 per adult per child. If fines are not paid, then court action is taken so please do not take this lightly. We want all children to achieve their best. We work hard to ensure every moment counts in their education and we need parents to ensure they are in school to benefit from the learning we offer.
27 April 2018Time Travelling WOW! DayYou know when you've had a good day! WOW! Day was a good day. We plunged headlong into one amazing adventure to another wondering if it could get any better. Reception children had a traditional English tea aprty with cups and saucers, Y1 children baked bread and made jam, Y2 children had an English tea party with a coronation, Y3 children created a diorama of a Roman chariot race, Y4 children did a role play of Wolf Brother and children from Y5 made a newspaper on an iPad.

We are full in Reception next year with sixty children (many of whom come from our wonderful nursery provision) having been allocated a place to start with us in September. 19 January 2018Astronaut lands at HPACPAstronaut lands at HPACP Do not miss this spectacular opportunity. ‘Longest-time-in-space’ record-holder astronaut Michael Foales CBE is visiting in just two weeks:Friday 2nd February. He will host an assembly, three orkshops for the children, a ticket-only breakfast or lunch option, and nw we have an exclusive evening presentation for VIPs and parents. PLEASE NOTE: ASSEMBLY: All children should pay £3 towards the assembly- through ParentPay. If parents want to attend assembly and have a photograph with their child and the astronaut - please pay £10 for the photograph (see below). WORKSHOPS: All workshops for children are FREE (this is what the fundraising is for). However, if parents or visitors are interested in attending the workshops with a photo, then the cost is £10 per parent. BREAKFAST/LUNCH: Chartwells will be providing an outstanding breakfast and lunch in an exclusive, intimate setting; therefore the cost is £20 for ticket. 12 January 2018Have breakfast with an AstronautHave breakfast with an Astronaut Thanks to our amazing science leader Ms Sheikh-Bahai and our connections with the International Space School Education Trust UK, we have secured a visit from ‘longest-time-in-space’ record-holder astronaut Michael Foales CBE. Please note change of date: Michael Foales will be visiting us on the morning of Friday 2nd February. He will host an assembly and two workshops for the children. However, there is an option for a limited number of parents to join these events and meet Michael personally to ask questions about space! We are offering a tasty breakfast or lunch where you can chat over a croissant and find out more about life in space within a small group. If you and/or your child would like this amazing chance then please be quick and book your tickets! If you can’t go to space then why not talk to a man who spent 374 days there!
1 December 2017Advent: The Coming of ChristmasMany of you may have started opening the doors of your favourite chocolate Advent calendar. Shops are filled with so many different types of calendars, there are advent calendars with chocolate, lego and even make-up! Yet, have you ever thought about why do we do this? Advent is a Latin word that actually means 'coming'. In the Christian church, advent is a time of preparation and waiting for the birth of Jesus. This is the time when many of us prepare our homes, food and presents for the celebration of Christmas - the time of goodwill on earth and peace to all manking. Let us remember this and ensure that during this special advent season we bring peace to the hostile, love to the broken hearted and kindness and goodwill to all we meet. As we light the first candle, may its glow fill us with the love, peace and joy of the Christmas season and cause us to make every moment count for those around us, near and far.
24 November 2017Parents EveningIt was so lovely to see so many enthusiastic parents, keen to hear about your child’s progress and how you can support. Being a parent is the best job in the world and we appreciate your support for your children and the academy. Please remember that you can encourage your child to read the ‘Reading Challenge’ books. These are the set of thirty books that your child should read over the year. As s/he reads them, they are logged and those who read 6 books each half term get a Reading Challenge Certificate at Christmas. Let us see which class has the most ‘Reading Challenge Champions’ this term…
3 November 2017Making a difference in Sri lankaDuring half term, Ms Bent, Mrs Venn and Ms Sekerova travelled half way around the world to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka to work with a village school as part of a British Council Education project. They worked with the teachers and children in developing leadership skills and sharing good teaching practice. At times, Dodamgaslanda Royal college struggles with their teaching and learning due to lack of resources such as reading books and pencils. In our International evenings, we raised £185 which then staff took to Sri Lanka and purchased a huge list of the much-needed resources for the school. The staff and children were completely overwhelmed by the gifs that came directly from our families here at HPACP. Therefore, we would like to thank all parents and staff for their generous donations and for making a difference in Sri Lanka. As a school, we want to know more about this whole trip and the impact made, therefore the teachers will be delivering a special presentation during Monday’s assembly for children and parents.
